I thought I would share this with all you BEAD LOVERS.
Mother nature provides us with a bountiful array of little stone beauties. She gives us everything from amber to turquoise, jade to jasper and pearls to fluorite - all which inspire my designs due to their inherent colors and textures.
Here is a quick reference guide of semiprecious stone beads that has been helpful to me in planning my designs. I hope you find it useful for your creativity.
Greens - chrysoprase, amazonite, diopside, demantioid, dioptase, enstatite, malachite, green jade, hiddenite, moss agate, peridot, olivenite, prasiolite, turquoise, sphene, uvarovite
Blacks/Grays - smoky quartz, pearl, tektite, labradorite, hematite, black agate, black jade
Reds and Pinks - cornelian, scapolite, garnets, rose quartz, rodochrosite, coral
Blues - aquamarine, amazonite, benitoite, barite, azurite, fluorite, kyanite, lapis lazuli, heliodor, turquoise, lazulite
Browns - sard, spessartite, tiger's eye, fossilized wood
Yellows and Oranges - amber, andalusite, citrine, amblygonite, anatase, orthoclase, phenacite, pryrite, orpiment, marchasite
Purples - tanzanite, amethyst
Whites/Milkys - hambergite, moonstone, opals, pearl, coral
All of these stone are available in their organic/natural state or can be cut and polished.
The choices are limitless - they really are!
